Itinerary :

Day 1: Marrakech ➝ Boumalne Dades

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech and a scenic drive across the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass traditional Berber villages and ascend to the Tizi n’Tichka pass, where sweeping mountain panoramas provide unforgettable photo opportunities.

The route continues to the historic Telouet Kasbah, once home to the powerful Glaoui family, a site that reflects Morocco’s complex political past. You’ll then explore Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized by UNESCO for its architectural and cultural significance and celebrated as a filming location for many international movies.

After lunch nearby, the journey unfolds through Skoura’s palm groves and the fragrant Valley of Roses, passing Kalaat M’Gouna before reaching Boumalne Dades. Dinner and overnight stay conclude the day in this dramatic canyon region.

Day 2: Boumalne Dades Merzouga

Following breakfast, travel toward the striking Todra Gorge, where towering cliffs frame a refreshing river and attract nature lovers and hikers alike. The drive continues through desert towns such as Erfoud and Rissani, offering glimpses into Saharan life and local traditions.

Upon reaching the edge of the dunes, switch to camels or a 4WD vehicle and venture into the vast sands of Merzouga. Enjoy time to explore the dunes before witnessing a spectacular desert sunset. As night falls, savor a traditional Moroccan dinner accompanied by live local music around a campfire. Spend the night in comfortable Berber-style tents beneath a sky filled with stars and, if fortunate, shooting meteors.

Day 3: Desert Exploration & Nomadic Encounters

An early wake-up call is available for those wishing to watch the sunrise over the dunes, a magical moment of shifting colors and shadows. After breakfast, relax before setting out on an exciting off-road desert excursion.

This day focuses on discovering desert life and culture. Visit nomadic families in their traditional tents to learn about their customs and daily routines. Cross rocky desert plateaus with expansive views of sand dunes and rugged landscapes.

Stop at the abandoned mining settlement of Mifis, once known for extracting minerals used in traditional cosmetics. The area is also rich in fossils, revealing traces of ancient marine life. Continue to Khamlia Village, known for its Gnawa heritage, where you’ll enjoy a live performance of spiritual music and a homemade Berber-style lunch.

Later, explore the oasis gardens of Merzouga and visit a nomadic cooperative before heading to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Merzouga ➝ Fes

Depart the desert and travel north through Errachidia and the lush Ziz Valley, where palm-filled oases contrast beautifully with the surrounding arid terrain. Pass through Midelt, a regional agricultural hub, before continuing into cedar forests that are home to the native Barbary macaques.

The journey then leads to Ifrane, a town known for its alpine-inspired architecture and clean, orderly streets. After a brief stop, continue toward Fes, arriving in the early evening for overnight stay.

Day 5: Guided Tour of Fes

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walking tour of Fes el-Bali, one of the world’s oldest and best-preserved medieval cities. Wander through narrow alleys bustling with craftsmen, spice vendors, and traditional markets. Discover historic landmarks, including ancient religious schools, bustling souks, and the famous leather tanneries where traditional techniques are still used today.

The day ends with dinner in the medina, followed by an overnight stay in Fes.

Day 6: Fes ➝ Meknes Volubilis ➝ Chefchaouen

Today’s route heads north toward the Rif Mountains. En route, stop in Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, to admire historic gates and remnants of its royal past, including the impressive Bab Mansour.

Continue to the archaeological site of Volubilis, once an important Roman settlement. Explore its remarkably preserved mosaics, columns, and ancient structures before heading onward to Chefchaouen.

Arriving in the “Blue City,” enjoy free time to explore its serene streets, central square, and historic kasbah. The relaxed atmosphere, artistic shops, and mountain setting make Chefchaouen a favorite among travelers. Overnight stay in the city.

Day 7: Chefchaouen ➝ Rabat ➝ Casablanca

After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and travel toward the Atlantic coast. In Rabat, Morocco’s capital, visit the Kasbah of the Oudayas, a historic fortress overlooking the ocean. Continue to the Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret dating back to the Almohad era, and the Mohammed V Mausoleum, resting place of three Moroccan kings.

Later in the day, continue to Casablanca for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Casablanca➝ Departure

On the final day, explore Casablanca’s highlights, beginning with Mohammed V Square, surrounded by elegant colonial-era buildings.
