As the scenery gradually shifts toward the desert, you pass through towns known for date production and fossil crafts, with the chance to learn about fossil art along the way. By late afternoon, you reach the edge of the Sahara Desert, where towering sand dunes signal your arrival. The evening is spent enjoying a traditional dinner accompanied by local music, creating a calm and memorable first night surrounded by desert silence.
Day 2: Sahara Desert ➝ Nomad Visit➝ Khamlia ➝ Camel Trek ➝ Desert Camp
After breakfast, the day is dedicated to exploring the desert region by four-wheel-drive vehicle. You begin with an off-road journey across rocky and sandy terrain, including a visit to an old mineral site that reflects the area’s past. The adventure continues with a visit to a nomadic family living in traditional tents, where you’ll gain insight into their daily life and hospitality while sharing mint tea.
Later, you head to a nearby village known for its strong musical heritage. Here, you’ll enjoy live performances of traditional rhythms and dances that trace their roots to sub-Saharan Africa. After lunch, take a relaxed walk through a palm grove oasis, where agriculture thrives despite the harsh desert environment.
In the late afternoon, you prepare for a camel trek deep into the dunes. Riding across the sand as the sun sets creates a truly magical moment, with changing colors painting the desert landscape. Upon arrival at the camp, you are welcomed with tea before settling into your tent. The evening features dinner, music around the fire, and a peaceful night beneath a sky filled with stars.
Day 3: Merzouga ➝ Rissani ➝ Erfoud ➝ Todgha Gorges ➝ Dades Valley
An early start allows you to witness the sunrise over the dunes, a breathtaking sight as light and shadow reshape the desert. After breakfast, you return by camel to meet your driver and begin the journey toward the valleys and gorges of southern Morocco.
Your first stop is Rissani, an important historical trading center that once connected caravan routes from across the Sahara. The journey continues through Erfoud, with the opportunity to see workshops that transform fossilized stone into decorative art.
Passing through palm-filled towns and fertile oases, you stop for lunch before heading to the dramatic Todgha Gorges. Towering canyon walls rise on both sides, creating a spectacular natural corridor that is popular with climbers and nature lovers alike. After time to explore and enjoy the scenery, the route continues to the Dades Valley.
Along the way, you’ll stop to admire unusual rock formations and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the valley. The day ends with arrival in the Dades area, where you relax and enjoy a quiet evening surrounded by mountain landscapes.
