Stroll around the central square, admiring the city’s administrative buildings and historic landmarks. Later, travel to Morocco’s capital city, Rabat, and explore its iconic monuments: the striking Hassan Tower and the centuries-old Kasbah of the Oudaias with its Andalusian-style architecture. Take in panoramic views of the river and ocean before settling in for your first night.

Marvel at the grandeur of Bab el-Mansour gate, wander through the serene Sahrij Souani water reservoir, and admire the ornate Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Roman ruins of Volubilis, walking through ancient streets, temples, and mosaics that reveal Morocco’s deep historical roots. Visit the hilltop town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun with its cascading architecture and spiritual ambiance. Conclude the day by driving through scenic mountain landscapes toward Fez, a city brimming with history, culture, and stunning medieval architecture.

Day 3: Fez Guided Tour

Spend a full day exploring Fez, one of Morocco’s most enchanting cities. Start in the old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, wandering its labyrinthine streets, vibrant souks, and historic monuments. Highlights include the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, the iconic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), and centuries-old leather tanneries. Visit the Bou Inania and Attarine madrasas to admire intricate tilework, stucco decorations, and peaceful courtyards. Explore the newer part of Fez, including the Royal Palace exterior, the historic Jewish quarter, and artisan workshops showcasing woodworking and pottery. End the day wandering through the bustling souks, shopping for textiles, ceramics, spices, and other traditional crafts.

Day 4: Fez ➝ Ifrane ➝ Azrou Ziz Valley ➝ Merzouga Desert

Depart Fez and traverse the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains, passing charming towns and cedar forests. Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” with its clean streets, alpine architecture, and lush surroundings. Visit the cedar forests near Azrou, where wild Barbary monkeys roam freely. Continue your journey through the picturesque Ziz Valley with its palm groves and traditional villages, gradually approaching the Sahara Desert. Arrive at the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga, where you will embark on a camel trek into the heart of the desert. Wake early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara, climbing the dunes to capture the morning light on the golden sands. After breakfast, return by camel to the edge of the desert before heading toward Todra Gorge. Along the way, pass through Rissani and Erfoud, where fossil-rich landscapes and traditional Berber villages reveal the region’s rich heritage. Explore the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural wonders, with towering cliffs and narrow passageways ideal for walking and photography. Continue through the scenic Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations, “monkey fingers,” and Berber villages. End the day enjoying a sunset over the valley before resting for the night.
